Last Sunday Jimmy and I made the trip to LA so I could take my practical exam for my RDA (which is just the first test of 3 for my license).
My test was at 11:30am on Sunday August 8, 2010. We showed up 2 hours early just so we could find the campaus, find a place to park and then find the School of Dentistry.
After we got my kit and made sure everything was in it. We walked around trying to find the coffee cafe so Jimmy would have somewhere to sit and work on his A&P while I was taking my test. At 11:00 I walked back to the School of Dentistry picked up my kit then headed upstairs to wait with the rest of the assistants until we were called up on the 3rd floor to check in for the test.
After what seemed like forever a RDA came down and told us to follow her up some stairs and then we were told line up on both sides of the hallway A-M on one side and N-Z on the other. Once in the room you were handed a number then lead down a row of desks until you reached one with your number on it.
After everyone one was settled and were giving their #8 tooth. We started. The test was a hour and a hour long. You had to make a #8 temp tooth, temp glue the tooth on and then do a temp filling on #19. Easy right?
I had no problem with the temp filling. I felt really good at it! But the number #8 temp. I worked on that thing up until the last couple of minutes. I wasn't to happy with it. But with a couple minutes left I temp glued it on just so I do all 3 things that we had to do. After a 1 1/2 they took us out of the room into a different room so we could be graded.
We sat in that room for another 1 1/2, then we were taken back to the exam room were we cleaned up our desk. Then it was back down to the kit rentals to return our kits.
So I won't know if I passed or not for at least 6 weeks. So lets hope that I passed! Cause I don't want to do it again!
