Aww, what a
LONG day! We have finally started to do some much needed yard work. Our whole yard needs a makeover, but we are not rich enough to do it all at once. So our goal for this summer was to at least get some manure (for fertilizer) down then some top soil. I honestly did not think that we where going to meet this goal this year, and I was really starting to doubt that we would ever have any kind of lawn. But luckly Jimmy has made a good working realationship with a guy at the CAT dealership. So he was able to rent a skid steer and a trailer for the weekend for a dicounted price (which helped out a lot!) He also found a pretty good deal on a dump trailer. And my husband being who he is, also found someone who was wanting to get rid of their manure so bad that we were able to get it free! So bright and early on Saturday Sep. 10 Jimmy went and picked up the dump trailer and went and got the first load of poo. He was hauling manure from about 9 am to 8pm. With only a couple 20 minute breaks to charge the trailer battery. So while he was running back and fourth all day I was home moving the piles of manure around with the skid steer and doing whatever else needed to be done. Once we got the front yard where we thought it was a enough to cover the ground completely Jimmy started dumping the manure in our side lawn (which is not a lawn but weeds.) So that way next year we will (hopefully) have enough to start our back lawn and the side lawn. Around 6:30 we decided we would get a couple more loads and call it good. The guy who we where getting the manure from still has a
TON of manure. But him and his wife where very pleased with what we took. So maybe next year if they have anymore that they want to get rid of and we need some, maybe it'll all work out once again. After Jimmy quit bringing in more poo. We started breaking up the big piles in the front yard into smaller piles so it would be easier to rank out. About 8:30 we decided to call it a night. But the fun starts all over tomorrow with the hauling of dirt. Oh how fun!
My husband is luckly that he married a farm girl who isn't afraid to get down and dirt and help him move poo around all day. I put in a good days work. I think I might of even out worked Jimmy. :) We are both starting to get excited about hopefully having a nice looking front yard next year! We are slowly starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
